Attention All Entrecarders!! - The Biggest Entrecard Contest Ever!

If you like what you are reading and you're new here, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS Feed. Thanks for stopping by!

This is for all my fellow Entrecarders.  Grey over at Fantasy Baseball has posted about a really big contest on the Entrecard Blog.  I personally would be happy to win any of the prizes, but of course I want the “Big Kahuna” of 10,000ec, not to mention there are tons of “non-entrecard credit” prizes.  Here’s a run down:

SPONSORS

Fantasy Baseball - 10,000ec — You can trade in 10,000ec for, like, Graham’s car or something.
Q3-n - 5000ec — Q3-n is selling their 1950s dinette furniture to finance this contest. They say, “You’re welcome.”
Øblog - 4000ec — Wow! 4000ec is going for like $30 on the Entrecard market. Thanks, Weird Oh.
Evil Woobie - 3000ec — Hey, maybe she’s not so evil after all! Or is she? You make the call!
Turnip of Power - 1001ec — He was going to go with 1000 then he found an extra credit in his couch. Thanks, Turnip!
Celebrity Pictures - 1000ec — Credits were acquired through legal means. Supposedly.
Evil Entrecard Kid! - 1000ec — Entrecard trivia: Evil Woobie and Evil Entrecard Kid are not related. Yet.
Modern Glam - 1000ec — With the 1000ec, perhaps you’ll buy an imaginary 1000ec pashmina and hang it around your virtual neck.
Dot Com Mogul - 1000ec — With this 1000ec, you might be able to buy back Q3-n’s dinette furniture.
Blabberwocky - 1000ec — It’s a play on Jabberwocky.
Looking For Scoop - 1000ec — Nothing says “I can buy one popular ad” like 1000ec.
Eyespi20.com - 1000ec — And she’ll teach you how she does that weird signature thing. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, look at her site.
Travelin’ Show - 1000ec — Message from the year 2012: Macy’s is now taking credits and a 1000 gets you one earring.
The Hypnotist - 1000ec — She will put you under a spell. Recognize!
Diet Pulpit - 1000ec — You can buy a lot of imaginary rice cakes with 1000ec. Side note, imaginary rice cakes taste better than real ones.

Romelo - 500ec — Romelo, Romelo, wherefore art thou 500ec?
WebATBP.com - 500ec — With gas prices soaring, it won’t be too long before 500ec goes for 501ec.
Inspire Emotion - 500ec — Almost pay for your favorite 512ec ad!
Sue Doe-Nim - 500ec — She’ll probably give you the credits then mock you for wanting them. That’s right — bonus!
Thailand Land of Smiles - 500ec — Actually, that’s 500 smiles.
FitnessLifeClub - 500ec — You’ll have to promise not to blow these credits on any fattening foods.
Lisa Cooking - 500ec — Surprise the whole family with 500 Entrecard credits.
JunkieYard Dot Com - 500ec — If you put these credits in a 401K, in 45 years you’ll have enough credits for a free e-card.
Movie Reviews - 500ec — You can’t buy a movie ticket with Entrecard credits. Yet. (Graham twirls his mustache. Contemplating world domination.)

PRIZES THAT ARE NOT CREDITS (BUT STILL WONDERFUL):

Aerten Art - She’s donating a painting. Seriously. Go look at her site and tell me you wouldn’t want a painting. Now. We’ll wait.
ImpNERD - 125×125 ad for a month — Let’s see, ImpNERD usually sells advertising for 256ec/day. You get this for a month. Um, yeah, you want this.
PoemsofQuotes - A cheesy poem about the winner’s topic — Win this and then ask them to rhyme something with, “Orange.”
Eyespi20.com - A custom made 125×125 card. Some of you need this. You know who you are.
Diet Pulpit - One week ad spot right below the banner and a personal greeting from Lady Rose saying, “Congratulations!”
JunkieYard Dot Com - Three blogroll links. Okay, the thing is, you can’t just get these. They’re prizes only won here.
The Hypnotist - A Hypnotic Audio - I don’t think this will simply be trance music. I could be wrong.

The Summer Blahs

I know that summer is suppose to fun, but here lately I’ve just found myself dealing with a case of the “blahs”. Since living in the South makes it really tough for the kids to play outside, because it is so hot, we can’t stay outside for any longer than like 30 minutes. So…they have been getting really bored having to stay inside the house, which causes a particular 4 year old to get into things she is not suppose to, so I’m constantly getting her out of some kind of trouble. Her favorite thing to do these days, is climbing on top of my kitchen counter and getting into my cabinets.

The babies are climbing….on everything too! I feel like they are “tag-teaming” me. I’m sitting at the computer working on an email or blog post, and I run to get one baby down from the table that she has climbed onto, and the next thing I know, the other one is standing in my computer chair deleting the very email or post that I was just working on…..sigh. So let’s just say, I spend most of my day finding ways to keep them all occupied and out of trouble. It’s just mainly the girls, my 6 year old boy, Christopher keeps himself busy with computer time, drawing or playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine trains (I have a rant about those too, that I will save for another blog post). With the girls, I try to find a good movie that will keep them mesmerized or think of a game that will interest them. Today I set up a tent in Allie’s room with blankets and sheets (something I use to do when I was her age), and they loved it! They made a pallet under it, and Allie read books to the twins. It was so nice seeing them playing together and having fun without fighting over toys.

But by the end of the day, I find myself welcoming “bedtime”, theirs, not mine. I look forward to my “me” time, which is very short, because I’m pretty exhausted myself, and I don’t last very long. Sometimes, I force myself to stay up, which I know is dumb, because I really need my rest too. But I can’t help myself…there is nothing like the peace and serenity of a “quiet” house. I love it.

My Blog is “Ridiculous”

The other day I received a comment on a previous post about the Mississippi River Flood of 2008. From what I understand, my blog is ranking pretty high in Google for keywords related to the flood. I’ve been getting quite a bit of hits. Anyway, the person that left the comment had some pretty nasty things to say about me and my blog. The comment was deleted, but here’s what they said:

“I’m looking online for some serious news about the floods and I come across this ridiculous site. Why on earth would I care what you or your husband think about anything. Oh yeah, SAHM I guess you have time to write driveling nonsense about nothing.”

Yeah…this person, who absolutely has no idea who I am, decided they would just come on to MY blog and bash me. It really pissed me off. Of course I had to repsond:

“Yay! That just means my site is ranking good. Thanks for letting me know!”

I know, I know. Totally snarky on my part, but what would you have said?? Then she writes back and oh yeah…she had the total nerve to put her REAL name and email address, so that’s how we were corresponding with each other. Here’s what she said:

“That just means your site is in the way of getting serious and pertinent information.”

So…yep. This woman pissed me off even more. So I decided to check the “who is” on her IP and I found out her address. So this was my reply:

“Why would you say something so mean to someone you don’t even know?? You know nothing about me. I hope you really feel good about yourself. And just because I’m a SAHM, doesn’t mean I sit around and do nothing all day long. I’m a very busy lady. And my “ridiculous sites” actually make me quite a bit of money.

Also, you ought to be very careful about where you leave comments because after doing a little digging and investigating, I was able to find out your address and where you live. Of course, I would never do anything with that information. But one day you might come across someone that might do otherwise.

So I would be careful if I were you. Just FYI.

Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful evening. :)”

And this was her reply back:

“If you are willing to put your self up a website you should be ready to get feedback. I’m not sure what your knowing where I live has to do with anything. Anybody can find out where anyone lives these days. I’m off to try to find some info about the terrible situation with the flooding. I will delete any further message from you.”

Haha! Of course, I emailed her back, I mean, how could I resist? And I’m thinking, “Man…this will make a great blog post!” Here’s my last reply, and I wonder if she read it, since said she would delete it?

“That wasn’t feedback. It was cruel and mean. End of story. Like I said, I hope you feel really good about yourself.

Just remember…Karma’s a bitch!

TTFN!”

Now seriously, I can’t figure out what pissed her off so bad about my blog?? Is it really ridiculous? Now I’ll be honest, I actually felt bad after I posted about my husband being out of work due to the flood, because he and I were looking forward to our time together with the family, due to his casino closing. I did add something at the end expressing how I truly felt about the flood situation, and this wasn’t about the current flooding that is going on now. This was a couple of months ago. What’s going on now is such a tragedy. I’ve never seen anything like it. My heart goes out to the families that are going through this.

This is what I’m thinking of doing, because I in no way, want to come across as uncaring. I’ve been getting tons of hits on my site from people searching about the flood. And I’m thinking of deleting my post that’s getting all of the hits. I would love some feedback. Does anyone think I should delete the post?

Possible Flooding Again on the Mississippi River

My husband came home from work the other day, and said there is talk of the river flooding again over the next couple of weeks.  I think we may be okay.  He says that down here, we should be able to handle the capacity, but it’s up north where there are going to be problems.  On the news last week, seeing the flooding in Wisconsin and Iowa was awful.  My heart goes out to the families that were and still are being affected by this tragedy.  I’ll be glad when this is all over.

Happy Blogoversary to Me!!

Yes…one year today, I purchased my own domain.  My previous experience with blogging was with Vox, and it was my sister that talked me into starting one on my own domain.  It’s been a crazy year.  I’ve learned so much and met so many great people along the way.  And hope to continue to do so! :)
