Yesterday, I had a meeting with the SPED director about Allie’s IEP. It was determined at age 3 that she was developmentally delayed. So she has spent the last 2 years in preschool under an IEP, although now you would think that it’s not even necessary. Her speech is fine, and she is progressing normally. Anyway, after we finished everything and signed the necessary paperwork, the director said she has a bombshell for me. I’m like…..Okay. She said that the class Allie is in, is very full, and they are asking me if it is ok to move her to the class next door, because they have plenty of room, and she thinks Allie would be the best candidate and would handle the transition well. I said that was fine, but made sure that it had nothing to do with anything Allie had done. And they said, no absolutely not. I told them that I didn’t have a problem, and they said that they would do it that morning.
Well, after I picked Allie up yesterday, she came out with all smiles, and I asked her how her day went and did she like her new class and teacher, and she answered me with a very enthusiastic “Yes!” I asked her if she made any new friends, and she said she met a girl named Summer (actually a daughter of a friend of mine, and I was hoping they would meet). I asked if she met any boys, and she said “NO! I don’t like boys! I like girls!” And her daddy says, “Good, let’s keep it that way!”
Today I pick her up and she says, “Mama, he drew me a Spiderman!” I said, “Who did?” and she said, “That boy.” And I said, “What was his name?” and she said, “Nobody…” LOL So then I start driving down the road, and I said, “So you didn’t play with Summer today?” and she said, “No….I played with a boy.”
I said, “I thought you didn’t like boys.” and she said, “I like boys…” hehe
Needless to say, Daddy’s not gonna like this story when he gets home tonight from work….
