May Be Headed Back to the ER

Last weekend, one of my twins swallowed what we believe to be a Mardi Gras bead, and per the pediatrician’s advice, we were told that if by today, she hasn’t “passed” it, that we need to do another X-ray. So yeah, you guessed it, still no sign of the Mardi Gras bead (won’t go into any details here). I’m giving them a call to consult with them. I would like to wait out the weekend if possible, I’ll just have to see what they say.

Weekend Rundown

img00088Well, unfortunately we did not make it down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.  Both of our vehicles have been having issues, and I haven’t been feeling well (tummy issues), so we opted not to go.  Friday, I was feeling better, so Allie and I had a “mommy/daughter” date and went to our local Mardi Gras parade.  She had soooo much fun, I really wish Christopher had wanted to go, but he insisted he didn’t want to, so I didn’t push.  Allie and I rarely get to do anything together, so I was glad we got a chance to do that.  She ran into one of her classmates, and they had the best time catching beads and watching the parade together.

Saturday, my tummy troubles started back up, so that day was pretty much shot, Steven was off, so I managed to get a nap in there, but would have been nice to get out and do something with the kids and take advantage of his day off.  So yeah, it was pretty much a mellow day, oh wait except for the fact I had to take my 2 year old to the ER because she swallowed either a small rubber ball or a Mardi Gras bead.  They took an X-ray and found it in her stomach, says she will pass it eventually and to keep a watch for it.  They also said to follow up with her regular ped today, and I have already done that, and they say if we don’t “find” it by Friday to call them back and they will do another X-ray.  I know, fun huh?

Sunday morning, I got a phone call from the grandmother of the little girl that we saw at the parade, and she invited Allie over for a playdate.  They offered to pick her up after church, and invited her to have lunch with them and play all afternoon.  This was her first real playdate, and I was so happy for her.  The only thing was, when they came to pick her up, the little girl’s brother recognized Christopher, and they seemed so excited to see each other, when they left, Christopher got upset because he couldn’t go too.

So a few hours later, I called to see if I could bring Christopher over to hang out with “his” friend, and she said absolutely.  So we both went over there, and then we all went to McD’s playground afterwards.  We had an awesome time.  Christopher and his new friend really hit it off.  I love seeing him interact with other children.  He still has some personal space issues, but has really made progress socially.

Later that evening my tummy troubles came back.  I think I may be having gall bladder issues, not sure, either that, or an ulcer.  I’m taking Prilosec to see if that will help.  Calling the doc today as well.  With all the stress I’ve been dealing with here lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an ulcer.

So that’s how my weekend went….how was yours??? :)

American Idol Season 8 Top 36 – Danny Gokey Performance – Hero

OMG!  Danny G, did not disappoint tonight!  I loved his song choice.  I’m so excited this year, because I feel deep down that my pick for American Idol just might win it.  It seems like in the past, I always supported someone that was not the fav, either by the judges or America.  Which was fine, I still stand by my decision to support those people.  But this year, Danny is so well received by both America and the judges (with the exception of Simon).  So it’s kinda cool to be on the “bandwagon” so to speak.

My American Idol Favorite – Danny Gokey

I absolutely love this guy.  His voice is very soulful and has a bit of an edge.  I also can’t help but feel for this guy and what he’s been through losing his wife.  Danny Gokey was amongst the top 36 American Idol contestants that will be appearing in the semi-finals this week.  The picture credit above goes to a friend of mine who just started a fansite for Danny.  If you are a Danny Gokey fan, you should definitely hop on over there.  Just click the banner below:

Happy Valentine’s Eve!

Just wanted everyone out there to have a wonderful Valentine’s tomorrow. We basically celebrated today. Kids had their parties today, and Steven is going to be out of town tomorrow. Tonight we’ll hopefully get the kids in bed early, get some daiquiris, and watch a movie. The only problem is, the kids are hyped up on Valentine candy that got at school today. Here’s hoping tonight they will cooperate. Wish me luck! :)

Pulling Up Carpet

As I said earlier, we were very close to moving last week, had paid a deposit on an apartment and everything, but we couldn’t find a preschool for our 4 year old, so we decided to wait….again. In the meantime, we are going to do some home improvements, so we might have a better chance of selling our home. Tomorrow, my husband and I have decided to pull the carpet up in our living and dining rooms and hallway. We have hardwood floors underneath, we just don’t know what kind of shape they are in. So we are a little nervous about doing it. Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated, since we really have absolutely no idea what we are doing.

Next, we are painting the girls bedroom. All 3 are sharing a room now. We were a little concerned about moving the twins in there, since it was the smallest room in the house. But it worked out perfectly! We were able to fit a twin bed and 2 toddler beds without any problems. All 3 have Tinkerbell bedding and they couldn’t be happier! We’ve picked out 2 shades of green Disney paint from Home Depot. It’s going to be so cute!

So we really have our work cut out for us! But I’m glad we are finally doing something. My husband’s mom is coming to help this weekend. I’ll be going somewhere with the kids in the meantime, while he’s working. She said she didn’t mind doing it, and I thought it was pretty nice of her to offer.
