You see the picture above? Yeah…I’m pretty pissed. Looks like we are going to have ourselves another hurricane to prepare for, just when we were starting to get things back to normal. The kids haven’t even gone back to school yet. That will be tomorrow.
They are saying that Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall some time next weekend. This is not good, because not only are we just now recovering from the last one, Steven was supposed to start the processing for his new job, which has already been pushed back a week due to Hurricane Gustav.
All I can say is, north Mississippi is starting to look a whole lot better to us. There are several casinos in northwest Mississippi, and this weekend he put in several applications up there. About 30 miles Northeast of there is where we plan to live if he gets a job offer. Good schools and very close to the big city of Memphis, TN which has tons of amenities. We actually lived there for 2 years before we had the kids and pretty much hated living there, but circumstances were different. We were burgularized within the first month we were there. So that put a bad taste in our mouths. We actually lived in Memphis then, so this time we will just be living outside.
I know we only have two months left of hurricane season, but I just don’t think I want to go through this anymore. It was tough us, especially the kids. They don’t understand why it’s so hot in their house. And Christopher was really affected by it. He was so distracted by it all, we could hardly get him to eat anything. So this possible move should be good for us, I’m just praying that he gets an interview next week. So keep your fingers crossed.

I can totally understand your frustration. We were in your shoes a few years back when the hurricanes were very friendly with South Florida. After 2 years of hurricanes, we moved to Atlanta. It was very hard with children. I hope and pray that it will not be any damage to your area.

It’s been a couple of days since you posted this and it now looks like Ike will be leaving Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama alone.
I hope your husband gets a lot of interviews and some good job offers for a really stable job somewhere that is not bothered by hurricanes.

Is your hubby going to try to get a job in Tunica, MS? I share your feelings about Memphis. I know your glad to hear Ike is going to bypass your neck of the woods though I’m sure you’re going to get hammered with rain. Keep us posted and take care Ruthie!
