Finally got home last night around 8PM.  My dad called us early yesterday morning to tell us that our power had been restored.  We were planning to stay at the hotel another night, but ultimately decided to head back home yesterday.  The kids seemed really happy to be back home.  We flipped on the air conditioning and had a nice cool house in no time.

Today, we are cleaning out our fridge and I went to the store this morning to buy all new condiments, milk, juice, etc., and was surprised that they still hadn’t completely gotten all of the cold food storage shelves stocked.  But they were working on it.  So yeah…things are slowly starting to return to normal around here.  There are still quite a few homes with out power here, my dad included.  Which I’m kind of frustrated with him right now, because he absolutely refuses to stay with anyone, saying that he prefers to sleep in his own bed.  And I completely understand that, but I’m just a little bit worried about him.  But what do you expect from a stubborn 80 year old man??

Steven did get the job that he interviewed for, so next week he will begin processing for it.  He has to get approved for Louisiana gaming badge first, so nothing is completely set in stone, but looks like things are moving forward.  Just means that we’ve got a lot of planning to do.  He can commute for a bit, it will be tough, but he can do it.  There is just so much involved with moving, especially to another state.  We have to sell our house, and look for a temporary place there.  We will rent until we find a house that we want to buy.  I don’t mind renting for a while, so that’s not a problem.

So, we will be quite busy over the next couple of months, but I will do my best to keep you guys updated on how things are going.
