Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Just had sick kids, been trying to get the kids ready for school, buying school supplies, uniforms, etc. Found out yesterday that they all might have Pertussis (whooping cough). Steven, my hubby, has had this cough for like 2 months, and then one of my twins, Emma gets it. Now they all have it. They really aren’t sick with fever or anything, just this cough that causes them to cough until they gag and almost throw up. Sometimes Emma does. I know….bleck!
Anyway, was telling their pediatrician about the cough they have all had, and she wanted me to bring Emma in, because hers has been the worst. She actually got to witness one of Emma’s coughing spells, and was pretty sure that’s what it looked like, so she ordered a test to check for Pertussis. We’ll find out if that’s what it is in a couple of days. If they do all have it, they will all go on antibiotics to keep them from spreading it, but it’s one of those things that have to run its course. And people have been known to deal with it for months. I know…sounds like tons of fun, doesn’t it? Like I said, they feel fine, but because of the cough our nights around here haven’t been so great. One will wake up coughing, then go back to sleep, but has then awakened the other, then that one has to be rocked back to sleep. It’s a vicious cycle, I really hope they get over it soon, because we all need some rest.
Has anyone ever had to deal with this? I’d really love to hear what happened and how you dealt with it. Until then…I’m off like a dirty shirt!
