Flea Problem

I want to know. Why do I have a flea problem if I do not have any animals? We have been dealing with fleas for over 4 years in this house. The first summer we lived here, we had the problem, and had the house treated, I vacuumed the entire house like 10 times consecutively, including the living room furniture.  Fortunately, that was the end of them for a while. The next summer, we didn’t have a problem, but then they came back the summer after that, and from that point on ever summer thereafter.

Last week, I went through the same ritual before, vacuuming a jillion times, then having the entire house sprayed inside and out. For about 4 days, there were no sign of them. Then a week later…..yep, you guessed it. They are back!! I’m about to pull my hair out! I can’t stand this anymore. I seriously want to just pack up and move somewhere else until we can get this under control. Fortunately, the kids don’t have any bites, I guess my feet and ankles are a little bit tastier. But something has seriously got to be done.

Happy Times

Christopher is doing so much better at school now. He still seems to feel the need to get out a “Don’t Leave Me!” before I drive off, but then he smiles and takes his SPED assistant’s hand. I think he is doing it because he knows that it gets to me emotionally. His teacher says that once he gets to the classroom he is just fine. So I think it is just something I am going to have to get over and quit worrying about it. Again, Allie is still loving school, just no progress in the potty training department.

Faith is almost crawling. She is getting up on all fours and rocking, so it should be anytime now. I’m sure then I will have my work cut out for me! Oh yeah! She can say “Bye Bye” or it could be “Bah Bah”. What ever it is, it’s adorable. I’m going to have to see if I can get it on video. It’s just too cute. Emma has finally mastered sitting, and has been making great progress in physical therapy. It has helped tremendously! She has been vocalizing more too, lots of squealing and singing. No words yet, but I’m sure she won’t be too far behind.

Oh yeah, one more thing. If you want to see a really weird show, go check out Yo Gabba Gabba on NickJr. It is totally freaking me out. But of course, the kids just LOVE IT!! It beats Teletubbies or Boobahs in the “Weird” department any day. LOL

Getaway Needed

I think my husband and I are in need of another little getaway. This last time was when I had my class reunion, and my MIL came down to spend the night with the kids. Even though we didn’t leave town, it was nice to have one night away to relax and actually get some sleep. Neither us have really had a good night’s sleep here lately. Last time we stayed in one of the really nice hotels here, but this time I think I might check out one of the Bed and Breakfast Inns. The town where I live is very historic and is full of Bed and Breakfasts. The prices are pretty reasonable too. One little cottage I check out recently was just a little over $100. And it’s absolutely adorable. Now I just need to figure out who is going to stay with the kids. My son wasn’t too happy that I left him for a night last time, and made me feel pretty bad about it the next day. That could be why he is having such a hard time at school. So maybe this is a bad idea. Oh well…..

On Hiatus

Wow! I’ve been absent for a while haven’t I? I’ve just had a lot going on. We are having issues still with Christopher and school. Every day when I drop him off, he cries and tells me that he doesn’t want to go, and screams, “Don’t leave me!”. I’m telling you, it really breaks my heart. But when I talk to his teacher at the end of the day, she says how much fun he has and what a wonderful day he has. I don’t know what he is trying to do to me. He makes me feel so bad when I leave him, and I guess he knows that it affects me emotionally and he is trying to take advantage of that. Or maybe not, I just don’t know! It’s very frustrating though, and it really makes it hard for me to accomplish anything at home because I’m constantly thinking of him and how he is doing. Will this ever get better?

On a lighter note, the twins had their first real photo shoot the other day. They did pretty good. They didn’t smile in the pictures of them together, but they did in their individual shots. Here’s a picture of them in their little dresses before we went.

Putting A Halt On Moving

We’ve decided to stop pursuing a move until next summer.  We are going to let the kids finish the school year here, then we will actively start looking for a better place to live.  That will give us time to really research where we think Christopher will benefit the most.  Right now, he is our most important priority.  Allie should do fine, we have had a few issues with speech delay, but now, that is almost nonexistent.  The school they are in right now is really great, and we are very pleased with how they have handled Christopher and his needs.
