Crazy Week!

Wow, has it been one totally crazy week.  First, the issue with my husband’s direct deposit didn’t get resolved until Tuesday.  Then last Sunday, my husband was on his way home from work around 1AM.  He had decided to take a short cut home through  kind of rough part of town.  As he was passing a group of guys hanging out in a parking lot of a local bar, he heard two pops and felt the second hit his windshield.  He had been shot at!

When he finally realized what had happened, he stepped on the gas and called 911.  Since the road he was on led straight to the police department, they instructed him to come straight there.  They took a report from him and definitely said that it was a bullet that hit the windshield.  Fortunately it didn’t penetrate, but if it had it probably would have hit him.  Needless to say, he was pretty shaken up when he got home.

We’ll be getting the windshield fixed next week.  I don’t think I can stand looking at it much longer.  I’m just so glad that he wasn’t hurt.  I don’t know what I would do without him.  Let’s just say that he WILL NOT be coming home that way anymore!!

Busy Days Ahead

Hubby is off for 3 days, and we have so much we want to do.  What we would really love to do, is get out of town for 3 days, but that just ain’t happenin’.  We have so much work that needs to be done around this house, and anyway, I hate to leave my house a mess, and then come back home to it.

Today we plan to clean all 3 bedrooms, or atleast get started on it.  My son’s room is an absolute mess.  My daughter’s room is pretty bad too.  What we’ve really been thinking of doing is moving them in together, and completely redoing the entire room.  The only thing is trying to think of a theme that they would both be interested in.  My son is still into Spongebob, and my daughter loves Dora the Explorer, so maybe we could go with a cool Nick/Nick Jr. themed room.  It’s fun planning it, but actually doing it is a whole other story.  So if we actually can get them to share a room, the twins will go into my daughter’s room.  They are still sharing a room with us.

We are also planning to do some landscaping in our yard.  Our front and back yard needs a major makeover.  I have some ideas, but again, getting around to doing it and making it happen is the key.

Not to mention, my son has a birthday party to go to this afternoon!

Fireworks Last Night

The kids did great at the fireworks display last night.  We were so afraid it was going to rain, but thank goodness it didn’t.  If it had, my son would have lost it, because he was so excited about going.  And he was so insistent that we were going to get a picture of them.  So we took some.  Here’s one of the pictures from last night.

Happy 4th of July!

Today we went to my brother’s house for grilled hamburgers.  I felt awful though, because on my way, I had to drop my husband off at work.  He works for a casino, and since they are open 24/7, he always has to work holidays, unless it lands on a regular day off.

But the kids were great!  I was so surprised.  Usually they are a nightmare when we go anywhere.  They just hardly ever get to go anywhere, and when they do, they go nuts.  But today was an exception.  My daughter actually sat at the table and ate lunch, and my son, who is a very picky eater, sat with his bowl of Cheese Nips and watched TV.  He normally doesn’t sit still and just walks around while he’s eating.  I know, we have issues, but remember, I have an Autistic child.  Let’s just say, we are working on it.

The twins were good too!  My sister-in-law’s mother and sister were there, and hadn’t seen the babies since they were born, so it was nice because they gave me a little break so I could eat something.  They really enjoyed playing with them.

Tonight we are going to the Fireworks display they have every year in my hometown down by the river.  The casino my husband works for helps sponsor the display, and they usually do it from a barge out in the middle of the river.  It should be fun, just not sure how the kids are going to react.  They’ve never been to anything like this before.  My son usually has issues with noises, but I’ve prepared him for it, and told him that it will be loud and he can cover his ears if he needs to.  We’ll see how it goes…..

Here’s a few pics from today before we left.  You can tell the kids were “so willing” to cooperate.

Another Drawing From My 5 year old

Here’s another one of my son’s drawings of the casino riverboat that my husband works for, and the bridge that crosses the Mississippi River here.
