My 5 Year Old’s Artwork

If you like what you are reading and you're new here, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS Feed. Thanks for stopping by!

I just wanted to share this great drawing that my 5 year old son did today.  It’s only one of many.  And I’m telling you that the kid gets better and better everyday.  So I guess you could say I’m a proud Mama.  Okay…..if you are wondering who it is.  It’s Garfield and Friends!!  One of his current obsessions these days.  That’s Garfield in the middle, then to the left you’ll see Wade the Duck, with the innertube around his waist, and he’s flapping his arms.  He loves to draw things in motion.  Which I think is pretty darn cool.

To those of you who don’t know, my son was recently diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Very mild and high functioning.  You wouldn’t be able to tell if you didn’t know it.  Well, he’s been drawing like this since he was about 2 1/2.  Of course, he’s gotten even better over the years, but he still amazes me today.

I Am a Celebrity Look-alike!!

One of my friends posted this cool little gadget over on her myspaceSo I decided to try it out!  I was pretty surprised at some of the people it said I looked like.  It actually showed about 10 different people, but you could select 4 or 5 depending on the type of collage you chose.  There was even a guy in there! LOL

My poem was selected!!

I have some very exciting news!

I submitted a poem that I wrote for a contest at Poetry.com, and yesterday I received notification in the mail that my poem has been selected for the semi-finals!  To be honest with you, I only entered the contest because I completed a cash offer at TreasureTrooper.com where I received a $1.50 just for entering the contest, and I actually wrote the poem on the spot. LOL I really didn’t think it was all that great.  But, hey, I guess they liked it.

Now get this……not only am I entered into the semi-finals for the contest, my poem is actually going to be published in one of their annual publications!  Pretty cool, huh?

Here’s the poem.  I wrote it about the premature birth of my twin girls.  And here’s a couple of flash back pictures of when they were born.

Two Small Miracles

There were two lives growing inside.

In the beginning, one was trying to hide.

I guess she was afraid to show her face.

Then she finally decided to take her place.

When we knew there were two, we started to prepare.

Then six weeks later we had quite a scare.

One decided she wanted out!

And the other thought, “What’s this all about?”

So two lives were brought into this world.

13 weeks early, but they were fighters, our girls.

Our two small miracles still amaze us today.

Perfect, healthy, and here to stay.

Class Reunion

Last weekend was my “almost” 20 year reunion. One of the reasons I haven’t had time to post anything in a while.

Anyway, instead of waiting until next year, the class of ‘87 invited the classes of ‘88 (my class) and ‘89 to have a 3 year reunion. At our school, our classes usually only consisted of about 30 students, so I’m really glad we did it that way. We had a great turnout! Friday night, each class met individually at different locations for a little “meet and greet” party. Then Saturday, all 3 classes got together for a huge party with an 80’s Band. I didn’t go to my 10 year reunion, so there were actually people there I hadn’t seen in 20 years!! It’s really strange how you can go that long without seeing someone, then when you do, it’s like it was yesterday. Here’s a picture of 2 of my best friends from high school.

Faith & Emma are 9 months Today!

Wow!  I can’t believe that these babies are going to be a year old in 3 months!  And to this day, I still look at them in disbelief, thinking to myself, “I can’t believe they are mine”.  Faith is almost 15 lbs, and Emma is well over 13 lbs now.  They are both sitting, not completely on their own, but with a little pillow support.  Here’s some pictures I took when they turned 9 months old.
